Apstrakt

Iako je prva asocijacija na histamin alergijska reakcija, dešavanja u organizmu posredovana ovim biogenim aminom ne moraju uvek biti u vezi sa alergijom. Akumulacija egzogeno unetog histamina u organizam, koja premašuje mogućnosti njegove eliminacije može biti uzrok simptoma kao što su: rinitis, glavobolja, gastrointestinalni simptomi, palpitacije, urtikarjia i svrab. Ovo stanje poznato je kao histaminska intolerancija i najčešće je trigerovano hranom bogatom histaminom, alkoholnim pićima i lekovima koji oslobađaju histamin i/ili blokiraju diamin oksidazu,  glavni enzim uključen u metabolizam unetog histamina. Ovo stanje poremećenog balansa između unetog histamina i mogućnosti njegove eliminacije može biti povezano sa sniženom aktivnošću diamin oksidaze. Zbog preplitanja simptoma sa drugim kliničkim entitetima, pre svega alergijom, i nepostojanja specifičnog dijagnostičkog testa kojim se potvrđuje ovo stanje, dijagnoza histaminske intolerancije zahteva multidisciplinarni pristup koji će najpre isključiti ostale moguće uzroke, a zatim sprovođenjem niskohistaminske dijete, primenom antihistaminika, suplementacijom diamin oksidaze, minerala i vitamina dovesti do kontrole simptoma i poboljšanja kvaliteta života pacijenata.
